Description

In the heart of the Urdaibai Reserve you will be surprised by the spectacular beauty of this neogothic tower made from limestone and marbles from Ereño This building has guarded the land since the 13C, although it owes its present features to the French architects Couverchef and Ancelet who reconstructed it in 1856 to show their appreciation for the naming of the son of María Eugenia de Montijo and Napoleon III as Vizcaíno Originario or native of Vizcaya.
At present, it is possible to reserve any of the fourteen exquisite rooms available at the Arteaga Castle and to enjoy an unforgettable meal in a setting which respects the castle's original characteristics. Each room is different and special, both with regard to decoration and comfort and to the surrounding views. In the restaurant too, every little detail has also been taken care of, offering the client the possibility of preparing each menu by combining four different menus that have drawn their inspiration from the fundamental elements of the area: The restaurant's special roasts, the traditions of Vizcaya, palace life and creativity.
In short, a place that is able to transmit the appreciation that the French empress María Eugenia de Montijo, wished to offer a town : Gautegiz-Arteaga.
